Adventurer |
|
|
Much to the surprise and disbelief of many a techno-junkie,
there are actually those who prefer the relative silence
of the wilderness to the hectic city life. They explore
the wilderness between cities, learning the layout of
the deserts and the breeds and monsters inhabiting them.
Adventurers need to know how to survive and win in combat,
but more often than not, cunning will be a more useful
tool for survival than a blaster or a hard punch. Adventurers
are well-rounded, having some knowledge of quite a bit
of things, but never specializing in any one thing.
Many people who prefer a self-reliant, solitary life
lean toward the life of an adventurer.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Scouting the wilderness
Least-favorite skills: Nano Technology
Breed Affinities: All
Adventurers are usually considered to be "jacks-of-all-trades"
These loners will have a large
variety of quests at their disposal.
Most of adventurers consider
themselves neutrals.

Agent |
|
|
Stealth is the defining factor of an Agent. Fast,
silent action is the area of expertise for the agent.
At times an agent may need to obtain information, other
times the agent may need to assassinate an important
dignitary, or someone seemingly insignificant. No matter
the mission, a loud agent is a dead agent. They do make
use of technology in their work, but still attempt to
maintain a low profile. Many agents have found that
knowledge of nano technology is helpful to have in their
work. One reason why some of the best agents are Homo
Solitus is that agents need to blend into a crowd, and
no one blends into the majority of the population better
than Solitus.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Concealment, Light Combat
Least-favorite skills: Heavy Combat
Breed Affinities: Solitus

Bureaucrat |
|
|
One might think that being a bureaucrat would be a
fairly safe profession. On the contrary, it can be one
of the most dangerous. Deep within the Omni-Tek®
headquarters, the political fights can often turn very
ugly, very fast. Bureaucrats are often very skilled
in a wide variety of theoretical skills like healing,
technology, and nanotechnology. Good bureaucrats are
often very charismatic, having a strong ability to manipulate.
Very often, using their charisma, a swift-tongue, or
even nano-technology, they will often take a leadership
or controlling role in a given situation.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Theoretical Skills
Least-favorite skills: Combat
Breed Affinities: Solitus
Bureaucrats will be able to "charm" pets
(although very limited due to Psychic checks on nanos)
The Bureaucrat has XP-percentage
buffs, can mesmerize, use fear nanos and stun nanos
Most bureaucrats have skills
in such areas as Charisma and Leadership.
|
Doctor |
|
|
The doctor is by far the most skilled in the healing
arts and technologies. They can make use of skills or
nanotechnology, but they definitely specialize in healing.
Due to the constant fighting between Omni-Tek® and
the Clans, there is always a high demand on both sides
for skilled doctors. On other planets, doctors are afforded
the luxury of being able to work out of a comfortable
office, but on Rubi-Ka, you will quite often find doctors
amid the soldiers on the battlefield, healing and defending
themselves as they go.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Healing
Least-favorite skills: Combat
Breed Affinities: Solitus
Doctors will be experts in implant surgery, a booming
medical industry.
Stims -both legal and illegal-
can be created by doctors.
Diseases and cures can be synthesized
by individuals in this profession.

Enforcer |
|
|
The enforcer is basically a brawler. They typically
possess considerable strength and fighting skill, but
very little else. The enforcer is a mix of a thief and
a soldier. Most of the time they are referred to as
"thugs". Due to the limitless need for more
strong, efficient workers in the Notum mines, most people
arriving on Rubi-Ka arrive as enforcers. The hard work
of the mines can only be done by very strong and very
durable people. Occasionally, due to the conditions
in the mines, some of the enforcers end up joining sides
with the rebels.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Brawling, simple technology
Least-favorite skills: Theory, complex weapons
Breed Affinities: Atrox
Enforcers are sometimes described as "gangsters"
due to their brutish nature.
Availability is important to
enforcers, they usually have a large group of "associates".
Just as with soldiers, enforcers
tend to have many skills in weaponry.

Engineer |
|
|
In a world ruled by technology, robots, and high-tech
computers, there is an inevitable need for people to
create, repair, and maintain all of that technology.
That is where the Engineer shines. They have the ability
to repair and manipulate electronics and robot pets.
In addition, they do have some limited skill with nano
technology.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Technology
Least-favorite skills:
Direct Combat
Breed Affinities:
Solitus
Engineers can manifest quite a few different types
of robot pets
Pets can be sold, although recipients
may not be able to fully control complex pets.
Mech Engineering and
Electrical Engineering are essential engineer
skills.

Fixer |
|
|
Unusual times call for unusual measures, and that's
when the Fixer comes into the picture. Not only can
these crafty scoundrels arrange matters (such as goods
smuggling or secret meetings), they know how to get
almost anything for just the "right" price.
These conniving individuals could also be valuable assets
in certain (mostly unorthodox) missions, since they
usually possess skills in lock picking and trap manipulation.
So, if you need to bypass some clan regulations or through
some 'unofficial channels' in Omni-Tek, a fixer would
be the best supplier.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Sneaking, social skills
Least-favorite skills:
Heavy combat, complex weapons
Breed Affinities:
Opifex
Fixers usually have connections to the black markets
of the planet.
Information about special quests/items
can usually be bought or obtained by a fixer.
Direct confrontations are not
the preferred ways to deal with deadly situations.

Martial Artist |
|
|
The martial artist's main tools, aside from his own
body, are self-discipline and spirituality. Their purpose
to achieve balance within themselves, and seek to bring
balance to the rest of the world. They see themselves
as the antidote to what they believe to be the world's
superficiality and dependence on technology and machines.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Close Combat
Least-favorite skills:
Technology
Breed Affinities:
Solitus
Melee weapons are the preferred arsenal of the Martial
Artist.
These individuals can take on
many opponents, at close range, at the same time.
A sword or knife in
the hands of a MA can be more deadly than the latest
blaster.
|
Meta-Physicist |
|
|
Despite the potential for power, wealth, and more
in the other professions, there are those who believe
that there is more to the world than what we know, or
can see and touch. The Meta-Physicist is one who has
dedicated himself and his life to the pursuit of spiritual
matters, using technology as a means to that end. Unlike
the nano technician, the meta-physicist believes that
there are more to the nano formulas than simple science.
Until more information becomes available on this mysterious
profession, the only appropriate description would be
that they are a 'religious nano-technician'. Much of
their skill with the nano-technology has to deal with
enhancing traits of themselves and others, or 'buffing'.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Buffing nano technology
Least-favorite skills:
Combat
Breed Affinities:
Nano
Meta-Physicists can summon angels/demons that deal
massive damage to opponents.
MP's have a large cache of nano-formulas
that may buff characters and weapons.
Most MP's have strong religious
beliefs, which may be the source of their power.
|
Nano-Technician |
|
|
Not surprisingly, due to its production of Notum,
Rubi-Ka is home to the largest percentage of Nano Technicians
in the galaxy. They specialize in the science of controlling
clouds of microscopic robots. Both sides in the planetary
conflict are desperately trying to populate their armies
with nano technicians.
|
| Additional Notes: |
|
Skill Affinities: Direct nano technology
Least-favorite skills:
Combat
Breed Affinities:
Nano
nano-techs have cerebral implants allowing them
control over clouds of nanites
Nano-technicians have the largest
variety of nano-formulas at their disposal.
High concentrations of nano-technicians
live on the mysterious island of Jobe.

Soldiers |
|
|
Soldiers are those tasked with guard duty, patrolling,
and general combat. Soldiers typically belong to one
side or the other, either Omni-TekŪ or the Rebels. Loyalty
above all others is the trait most valued in a well-paid
soldier.
